Nick Beards - Dog Enthusiast & Canine Literature Expert

Hello there! I’m Nick Beards, a devoted dog enthusiast and a recognized author in the world of canine literature. Growing up in Portland, Oregon, my fascination with dogs was sparked by my childhood companion, a lively German Shepherd named Max. That bond evolved into a lifelong passion, eventually leading me to earn a degree in Animal Behavior and Ethology from the University of California, Davis.

I’m best known for my blog where I share articles on all things dog-related. Over the years, I’ve covered a broad range of topics from canine behavior to dog-human relationships, training methodologies, and so much more. My writings are often featured in popular publications such as Dogster, BarkPost, and Modern Dog. The mix of scientific insight and relatable anecdotes in my articles has, thankfully, resonated with a wide audience of dog lovers.

In addition to writing, I host a weekly podcast called “The NicksBeard Talk,” where I delve deeper into dog-related matters. I’m grateful that my listeners find my conversational style engaging and the information I share helpful. It’s a fantastic medium for reaching out to others who share my love for dogs and for fostering meaningful conversations about our four-legged friends.

In 2022, I founded the “NicksBeard Academy,” an online platform offering resources and courses to assist dog owners. My vision was to equip people with the knowledge they need to cultivate harmonious relationships with their canine companions. The Academy has been a wonderful way to reach out to and assist more people than I could have ever imagined.

Away from the digital world, I’m a regular speaker at pet symposiums, a volunteer at the Portland Animal Welfare Society, and, most importantly, a dedicated dog parent. My family includes my wonderful wife, our two delightful children, and our cherished rescue dogs - a Labrador Retriever named Bailey and a Beagle named Snoopy.

My journey in the world of dogs, as a writer, a speaker, and a dog parent, is driven by a simple philosophy - every dog deserves to be understood, loved, and treated with respect. I truly believe that by fostering a better understanding of our furry friends, we can make their lives, and ours, much happier and fulfilled. After all, we are all better humans when we have a dog to love, and who loves us back.
